Type of course: compulsory
Prerequisites: There is a limit of 16 people registered for a particular course Histology, genetics, biochemistry.
Contact person: Agnieszka Żak-Bochenek; agnieszka.zak-bochenek@upwr.edu.pl
Short description: The aim of the course is to acquire by the students the basic knowledge on the role of integrative role of defense mechanisms, the rules governing of self-non-self recognition, the principles of migration, communication and co-operation of immune cells. Subject presents the basic clinical disorders resulting from dysregulation of defense mechanisms (immune and inflammatory nature of tissue repair, types of hypersensitivity, and also the ways of immune-modulation in the prevention of infectious diseases in individual patient and in the herd.
Full description: Cellular and molecular mechanisms of immune reactions, immune recognition, inductive, central and effector phases of immune response, development and maturation of immune cells, immune tolerance, immune inflammatory reaction, the types of hypersensitivity, the base of active and passive immunization, basic assays and techniques used in immunology.
